Indications/Uses
Relief of pain eg, rheumatic & muscle pain.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 300-600 mg 4-6 hrly. Max: 2,400 mg daily. Childn 20 mg/kg daily in divided doses, <30 kg Max: 500 mg.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take immediately after meals.
Contraindications
Patients sensitive to aspirin. Lactation.
Special Precautions
Asthma or bronchospasm, bleeding disorders, CV disease, peptic ulceration. Renal failure. Pregnancy. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances & bleeding, peptic ulceration; headache, dizziness, nervousness, depression, drowsiness, skin rash, pruritus, tinnitus, edema, insomnia, blurred vision; liver & kidney impairment, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia.
Drug Interactions
NSAID increases plasma conc of lithium, methotrexate. May reduce effects of diuretics, β-blockers. May prolong bleeding time & increases plasma conc of warfarin & may alter plasma conc of phenytoin, sulfonylureas (monitor).
