Pharmacology: Pharmacodynamics: Treatment of symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux.
Reflux is a condition in which stomach acid persistently leak back up into esophagus. The reflux damages the tissue lining the esophagus, causing a painful burning sensation in the middle of the chest which known as "Heartburn".
On ingestion the medicine product reacts with gastric acid to form a raft of alginic acid gel which floats on the stomach contents effectively impeding gastro-oesophageal reflux and protecting the oesophagus from the gastric components as a result of symptomatic relief from heartburn and indigestion.
Pharmacokinetics: The mechanism of action of the medicinal product is physical and does not depend on absorption into the systemic circulation.
