Glucosamine sulfate
Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Cap 1 cap tid or 3 cap once daily for at least 6 consecutive wk. Powd for oral soln 1 sachet once daily for at least 6 wk.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Sachet: Dissolve in a glass of water & drink.
Contraindications
Patients w/ seafood or shellfish allergy (eg, shrimp, crab or iodine).
Special Precautions
Diabetes, asthma, HTN, peptic ulcer or kidney function impairment. Monitor blood sugar & lipid levels periodically for prolonged use. Patients who need to restrict Na intake. Women of childbearing potential. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, stomach upset, abdominal discomfort, constipation, diarrhea, drowsiness, headache, rash & skin reaction; dyspepsia, excessive gas, abdominal distension & cramps.
Drug Interactions
Cap: May reduce the effectiveness of antidiabetic drugs. May increase anticoagulant or antiplatelet effect. May reduce effectiveness of etoposide & doxorubicin. May increase risk of adverse effects of diuretics.
