Indications/Uses
NIDDM.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Initially 40-80 mg/day, gradually increase up to 320 mg/day, dosage >160 mg/day should be taken in 2 divided doses. MR tab 30-120 mg once daily at breakfast.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to sulfonylureas. Ketosis, acidosis, diabetic precoma & coma. Pregnancy, lactation. Severe renal or hepatic insufficiency.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, skin allergy. Hypoglycemia may occur.
Drug Interactions
Hypoglycemia effects enhanced by sulfonamides, salicylates, phenylbutazone, β-blockers, MAOIs, ketoconazole, miconazole, alcohol. Hypoglycemia effects reduced by diuretics, corticoids, estrogens.
