Indications/Uses
Symptomatic BPH w/ an enlarged prostate in men to improve symptoms, reduce risk of acute urinary retention & reduce the risk of need for surgery including transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) & prostatectomy. In combination w/ the α-blocker, doxazosin to reduce the risk of symptomatic progression of BPH. 
Dosage/Direction for Use
5 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Special Precautions
Hepatic dysfunction. Patients w/ a large residual urinary vol or severely diminished urinary flow for obstructive uropathy. Women should not handle crushed or broken tab if pregnant. Rule out other urological diseases including cancer prior to therapy.
Adverse Reactions
Impotence, decreased libido. Weakness. Postural hypotension, edema. Dizziness, somnolence. Ejaculation disturbances, decreased vol of ejaculate. Gynecomastia. Dyspnea, rhinitis.

G04CB01 - finasteride ; Belongs to the class of testosterone-5-alpha reductase inhibitors. Used in the treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy.
