Haloperidol
Indications/Uses
Management of nervousness, anxiety accompanying psychiatric disorders. Relief of psychomotor agitation in schizophrenia, alcoholism; character disorders in childn.
Dosage/Direction for Use
0.5-1 mg bid.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to minimise GI irritation.
Contraindications
Bone marrow depression.
Special Precautions
Hyperthyroidism, hepatic dysfunction, parkinsonism, CV disorders. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Tardive dyskinesia, sedation; photosensitivity; cholestatic hepatitis, galactorrhea, dystonia, hypotension.
Drug Interactions
Lithium, methyldopa, anticonvulsants, alcohol, CNS depressants.
