Etoricoxib
Indications/Uses
Treatment & relief of acute & chronic OA, RA, ankylosing spondylitis (AS), acute gouty arthritis, chronic musculoskeletal pain, including chronic low back pain, acute pain associated w/ dental surgery & dysmenorrhea.
Dosage/Direction for Use
OA 30 or 60 mg once daily. RA, ankylosing spondylitis 90 mg once daily. Acute gouty arthritis 120 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Active peptic ulceration or GI bleeding, severe hepatic dysfunction (Child-Pugh score >9), estimated CrCl <30 mL/min, asthma, acute rhinitis, nasal polyps, angioneurotic oedema or urticaria w/ aspirin or other NSAIDs. CHF (NYHA II-IV). Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <16 yr.
Special Precautions
CV events (eg, HTN, hyperlipidaemia, DM, smoking). May cause impaired renal function, uncompensated heart failure, or cirrhosis. Monitor renal function.
Adverse Reactions
Asthenia/fatigue, dizziness, edema/fluid retention, lower extremity oedema, flu-like disease, HTN, abdominal pain, flatulence, diarrhea, dyspepsia, heartburn, epigastric discomfort, nausea, headache, increased ALT & AST.
Drug Interactions
Rifampicin, salbutamol, minoxidil, lithium, cyclosporin, tacrolimus, aspirin.
