Inactivated poliomyelitis virus types 1, 2 & 3
Prevention of poliomyelitis in infants, childn & adults both as primary vaccination & booster.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM/SC Primary vaccination Non-vaccinated adult 2 successive 0.5 mL inj at 1-2 mth interval. Childn 2 mth 3 successive 0.5 mL inj at 1-2 mth interval, 6 wk Administer following the 6, 10, 14-wk schedule. Booster Adult Administer 3rd dose (1st booster) 8-12 mth after the 2nd inj. Childn 2 yr Administer 4th dose (1st booster) 1 yr after 3rd inj. Booster is given every 5 yr in childn & adolescents, & every 10 yr in adults.
Hypersensitivity to neomycin, streptomycin or polymyxin B. Fever or acute illness.
Special Precautions
Do not inj intravascularly. Thrombocytopenia or bleeding disorder. Postpone vaccination in patients receiving immunosuppresants or w/ immune deficiency disorder; chronic immunodeficiency (eg, HIV infection).
Adverse Reactions
Local inj site reactions (eg, pain, erythema, induration). Moderate, transient fever.
