Terbinafine
Indications/Uses
Fungal Skin & nails infections caused by dermatophytes eg, Trichophyton, Microsporum canis & Epidermophyton floccosum eg, interdigital type tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea cruris (dhobie jock itch) & tinea corporis (ringworm). Pityriasis versicolor due to Pityrosporum orbiculare. Yeast skin infection principally those caused by genus Candida (eg, Candida albicans). Plantar type tinea pedis (moccasin foot).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & adolescent ≥12 yr Interdigital type tinea pedis, tinea corporis & tinea cruris Once daily for 1 wk. Plantar type tinea pedis Bid for 2 wk. Cutaneous candidiasis Once or bid for 1-2 wk. Pityriasis versicolor Once or bid for 2 wk.
Special Precautions
May cause local skin reactions due to cetyl & stearyl alcohol. Avoid contact w/ eyes. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended in childn <18 yr. Not to come in contact w/ infants.
