Levofloxacin (as hemihydrate)
Indications/Uses
Bacterial blepharitis, dacryocystitis, hordeolum, conjunctivitis, tarsadenitis, keratitis (including corneal ulcer). Aseptic treatment during perioperative period for ocular surgery.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult, childn ≥6 yr & adolescents Instill 1-2 drops tid.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or any quinolones.
Special Precautions
Discontinue if eyelid redness/swelling, rash, muscle pain, or tendinopathy develops. Not for inj or subconjunctival inj or administered directly into the anterior chamber. Hepatotoxicity or renal toxicity. Discontinue if superinfection occurs in prolonged use. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Transient decrease in vision, transient ocular burning, ocular pain or discomfort, foreign body sensation, headache, fever, pharyngitis & photophobia.
Drug Interactions
Quinolone anti-infectives (eg, theophylline, caffeine, oral anticoagulants, cyclosporine).

S01AE05 - levofloxacin ; Belongs to the class of quinolone antiinfectives. Used in the treatment of eye infections.
