Indications/Uses
HTN.
Dosage/Direction for Use
250 mg bid & adjust dose not >3 g/day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Pheochromocytoma; active liver disease, blood dyscrasias.
Special Precautions
Renal or hepatic impairment, history of liver disease or mental depression. Lactation. Perform blood counts & liver function tests during the first 6-12 wk if unexplained fever develops. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, sedation, headache, dry mouth, wt gain, nasal stuffiness, nausea, sexual function disorder.
Drug Interactions
Hypotensive effects diminished by sympathomimetics, TCA, phenothiazines, MAOI. Enhanced by thiazide diuretics, levodopa, vasodilators, alcohol. May potentiate hypoglycemic action of tolbutamide.
