Malaria caused by malarial strains sensitive to mefloquine especially Plasmodium vivax & Plasmodium falciparum.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Curative treatmentAdult & childn >45 kg Total dosage: 1,250-1,500 mg. A lower total dosage of 750-1,000 mg is sufficient for patients living in malarious areas. Childn <45 kg 25 mg/kg as a single dose or in 2 divided doses every 6 hrly.
Should be taken with food: Best taken w/ meals & a full glass of water.
Patients w/ renal insufficiency, severe impairment of liver function or w/ history of psychiatric disturbances or convulsions. Early pregnancy, young childn.
Dizziness, balance disturbances, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite. Rarely, headache, bradycardia, rash or pruritus, weakness.
