Midecamycin acetate
Indications/Uses
Upper & lower resp tract infection, acute otitis media, skin & soft tissue infections caused by susceptible microorganisms including M. pneumoniae & C. pneumoniae.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 600-1200 mg/day. Infant & childn 20-40 mg/kg daily in 3 divided doses. Syr Dissolve prior to taking by adding water up to the indicated level (total vol 60 mL) & shake well for susp.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
History of hypersensitivity to macrolides.
Special Precautions
Impaired liver function, pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Rarely, GI disturbances.
