Dosage/Direction for Use
Cancer patient receiving myelosuppressive chemotherapy 5 mcg/kg/day once daily SC or IV. Cancer patient receiving bone marrow transplant; peripheral blood progenitor cell collection & therapy in cancer patient 10 mcg/kg/day.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to E. coli-derived proteins, recombinant granulocyte-colony stimulating factor.
Special Precautions
Avoid simultaneous use w/ chemo- & radiation therapy. Malignancy w/ myeloid characteristics. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Medullary bone pain, nausea/vomiting, skeletal pain, alopecia, diarrhea, neutropenic fever, mucositis, fever, fatigue, anorexia, dyspnea, headache, cough, skin rash, chest pain, generalized weakness, sore throat, stomatitis, constipation, pain (unspecified).
Drug Interactions
5-FU, saline soln. Not recommended 24 hr before or after chemotherapy.
