Indications/Uses
Listed in Dosage.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Gonorrhea 800 mg single dose. UTI 200-400 mg bid. GIT infections 400 mg bid.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals. Ensure adequate hydration. Do not take w/ dairy products.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to quinolones. Severe renal insufficiency. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn & adolescent <18 yr.
Special Precautions
Moderate renal & liver impairment. Epilepsy.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, headache, dizziness, rash, visual disturbances.
Drug Interactions
Antacids may impair absorption of norfloxacin. Probenecid decreases its urinary secretion. Nitrofurantoin & quinolones are antagonistic.
