Indications/Uses
Relief of symptoms of depression, particularly endogenous depression.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 10-25 mg bid-tid increasing every 2nd or 3rd day by 10-25 mg to 150-225 mg daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Recent MI, heart block or other cardiac arrhythmias. Severe liver disease. Mania. Concomitant treatment w/ MAOI.
Special Precautions
Elderly, childn >6 yr. Glaucoma. History of urinary retention or seizures, hyperthyroidism, suicidal tendencies.
Adverse Reactions
Dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention, blurred vision, narrow-angle glaucoma, impotence, drowsiness, dizziness, sweating, weakness, fatigue, epileptiform seizures, orthostatic hypotension, palpitation, tachycardia, cardiac arrhythmia, extrapyramidal symptoms, endocrine effects.
Drug Interactions
Sympathomimetic agents, guanethidine, bethanidine, clonidine, barbiturates, alcohol.
