Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1-2 tab every 4-6 hr. Childn 6-12 yr ½-1 tab every 4-6 hr. Max: 325 mg: 12 tab/24 hr, 500 mg: 8 tab/24 hr.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Not to be used for muscular pain relief due to overload working; >5 days. Renal impairment or liver disease.
Adverse Reactions
Rash; increased Cl, uric acid & glucose, decreased Na, bicarbonate & Ca; anemia, blood dyscrasias (eg, neutropenia, pancytopenia, leukopenia); increased bilirubin & alkaline phosphatase; increased ammonia, nephrotoxicity w/ chronic overdose, analgesic nephropathy.
Drug Interactions
Increased effect/toxicity w/ barbiturates, carbamazepine, hydantoins, INH, rifampin, chronic ethanol abuse. Increased hepatotoxic potential w/ sulfinpyrazone. Enhanced effect of warfarin. Decreased effect w/ barbiturates, carbamazepine, hydantoins, rifampin. Decreased analgesic effect w/ sulfinpyrazone. Decreased absorption w/ cholestyramine & food. Increased risk of acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity w/ ethanol. Decreased levels w/ St John's wort.
