Indications/Uses
UTI, GI infections & uncomplicated gonorrhea.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Uncomplicated UTI 400 mg bid for 3 days. Recurrent or complicated UTI 400 mg bid for 10-21 days. GI infections 400 mg bid for 5 days. Uncomplicated gonorrhea 800 mg as a single dose.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals. Do not take w/ dairy products.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to quinolones, severe renal insufficiency. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Renal or hepatic impairment. Epilepsy. Patients w/ CNS damage.
Adverse Reactions
GI distress, headache, dizziness, pruritus, nausea.
Drug Interactions
Absorption may be impaired by antacids. Reduced excretion w/ probenecid. May potentiate effects of oral anticoagulant, phenytoin, theophylline.
