Live, oral, pentavalent rotavirus vaccine (per 2 mL contains the following human-bovine rotavirus reassortants: G1 2.2 x 10infectious units, G2 2.8 x 106 infectious units, G3 2.2 x 106 infectious units, G4 2 x 106 infectious units, P1 [8] 2.3 x 106 infectious units)
Prevention of rotavirus gastroenteritis in infants & childn caused by the serotypes G1, G2, G3, G4 & G-serotypes that contain P1A[8] (eg, G9).
Dosage/Direction for Use
3 doses administered orally to infants, w/ the 1st dose administered at 6-12 wk of age & the subsequent doses at min of 4-wk intervals.
May be taken with or without food: Gently squeeze vaccine into infant's mouth toward the inner cheek. Do not mix/reconstitute/dilute w/ any other vaccines/soln.
Hypersensitivity. Severe combined immunodeficiency disease (SCID).
Special Precautions
Immunocompromised patients. HIV infection. Individuals who have received blood transfusion or blood products including Ig w/in 42 days. Active GI illness, chronic diarrhea or growth retardation, or history of congenital abdominal disorders or intussusception. Acute infection or febrile illness. Infants <6 wk.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea, vomiting; pyrexia.
