Indications/Uses
Relief of bronchospasm in bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis & emphysema.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Initially 5-10 mL tid-qid. Max: 8 mg (4 tsp) qid. Childn 6-12 yr Initially 5 mL tid-qid. Max: 24 mg (12 tsp) in divided doses, 2-6 yr Initially 0.1 mg/kg tid or 2.5-5 mL tid-qid. Max: 4 mg (2 tsp) tid.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Hyperthyroidism, DM, CV disorders including coronary insufficiency or HTN, ketoacidosis. Concomitant use w/ other sympathomimetic agents. Patients receiving MAOIs, TCAs, other β-adrenergic blocking agents (eg, propranolol) or drugs that can lower serum K conc. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Difficult or painful urination, drowsiness, flushing, or redness of face or skin, heartburn, loss of appetite, muscle cramps, tachycardia.
