Cyproterone acetate 2 mg, ethinyl estradiol 0.035 mg
Indications/Uses
Androgen-dependent diseases in women eg, acne, accompanied by seborrhea or by inflammation or formation of nodes, androgenetic alopecia & mild forms of hirsutism.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab daily for 21 days starting on the 1st day of menstruation.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
DVT; stroke; migraine; DM w/ blood vessel damage; pancreatitis; jaundice or severe liver disease; existing or treated breast, endometrial or genital cancer; benign or malignant liver tumor; unexplained vag bleeding. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Smoking, diabetes, HTN, overwt, heart rhythm/valve disorder, phlebitis, varicose veins, migraine, epilepsy, hypertriglyceridemia, liver or gallbladder disease, Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, SLE, hemolytic uremic syndrome, sickle cell disease, herpes gestationis, melasma.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, migraine; gastric upsets; nausea; breast tenderness, pain, enlargement & secretion; changes in body wt & libido; depressive moods; contact lens intolerance, changes in vag secretion, various skin reactions, fluid retention.
Drug Interactions
Antiepileptic drugs (eg, primidone, phenytoin, barbiturates), anti-TB (rifampicin, rifabutin), ritonavir, antibiotics (penicillins, tetracyclines, griseofulvin), St. John's wort.
ATC Classification
G03HB01 - cyproterone and estrogen ; Belongs to the class of antiandrogen preparations in combination with estrogens. Used to counter androgenic activities.
