Indications/Uses
Active immunization against Vibrio cholerae for patients >1 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Recommended dose: 1.5 mL. Primary immunization 2 doses given at least 2-wk interval.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Avoid food & drink 1 hr before & after vaccination.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the vaccine, formaldehyde or previous vaccine inj. Patients w/ acute illness (eg, acute GI or febrile illness).
Special Precautions
Do not administer parenterally (IM, SC or IV). Not a substitute for therapy in cases of cholera or acute episode of GI disease or acute watery diarrhea. Postpone vaccination until after immunosuppresive treatment completion. Observe patients at least 30 min after vaccination. HIV/AIDS. Pregnancy & lactation. Infants <1 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Acute gastroenteritis, diarrhea, fever, vomiting, abdominal pain, itching, rash, nausea, weakness, cough, vertigo, dryness of mouth.
