Indications/Uses
Symptomatic relief of seasonal & perennial allergic rhinitis, & prophylaxis & chronic treatment of asthma in ped patients 2-5 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Childn 2-5 yr Seasonal & perennial allergic rhinitis, asthma 4 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Do not use for acute asthma attacks. Do not abruptly substitute for inhaled or oral corticosteroids. Reassess & evaluate treatment regimens on patients who develop eosinophilia, vasculitic rash, worsening pulmonary symptoms, cardiac complications &/or neuropathy. Childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Dermatitis, eczema, rash, urticaria, varicella; abdominal pain, diarrhea, gastroenteritis; cough, pneumonia, rhinorrhea, sinusitis; conjunctivitis, ear pain, otitis; fever, headache, influenza.
Drug Interactions
Reduced plasma conc w/ CYP450 inducers eg, phenobarb, rifampin. Elevated plasma conc w/ gemfibrozil. Increase adverse effects of prednisone.

R03DC03 - montelukast ; Belongs to the class of leukotriene receptor antagonists. Used in the systemic treatment of obstructive airway diseases.
