Total energy: Approx 1,000 kCal. Osmolality: Approx 950 mOsmol/kg water. Osmolarity: Approx 850 mOsmol/L. Indications/Uses
Parenteral nutrition for adults when oral or enteral nutrition is impossible, insufficient or contraindicated.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Individualised dosage. Range: 20-40 mL/kg/day. Max dose: 40 mL/kg/day. Administer by IV infusion into peripheral or central vein over 14-24 hr. Max infusion rate: 3 mL/kg/hr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to fish-, egg-, soya- or peanut protein or to any of the active substances or excipients. Severe hyperlipidemia, severe liver insufficiency, severe blood coagulation disorders, severe renal insufficiency w/o access to hemofiltration or dialysis; congenital errors of amino acid metabolism, acute shock, uncontrolled hyperglycaemia, pathologically elevated serum levels of any of the included electrolytes, acute pulmonary oedema, hyperhydration, decompensated cardiac insufficiency, hemophagocytotic syndrome, unstable conditions eg, severe post-traumatic conditions, uncompensated DM, acute MI, stroke, embolism, metabolic acidosis, severe sepsis, hypotonic dehydration & hyperosmolar coma.
Special Precautions
Monitor capacity to eliminate fat. Impaired lipid metabolism (renal failure, DM, pancreatitis, impaired liver function, hypothyroidism & sepsis). Correct electrolyte & fluid balance disturbances prior to infusion. Predisposition to electrolyte retention. Monitor serum glucose, electrolytes, osmolarity, fluid balance, acid-base status, liver enzyme tests, blood cell counts & coagulation. Control phosphate & K intake in patients w/ renal insufficiency. Lactic acidosis, insufficient cellular O2 supply, increased serum osmolarity, malnourished patients. Do not give w/ blood in the same infusion set. Hyperglycaemia. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Thrombophlebitis, slight increase in body temp.

Insulin, heparin.
