Itraconazole
Indications/Uses
Treatment of fungal infections eg, dermatophytosis, pityriasis versicolor, vulvovag candidiasis, oropharyngeal candidiasis, onychomycosis & fungal keratitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 100-200 mg once daily. If there is no response, increase the dose in 100 mg increments to max 400 mg/day in 2 divided doses.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take immediately after a full meal.
Contraindications
Co-administration w/ terfenadine or astemizole.
Special Precautions
Childn, patients w/ hepatic function abnormalities should have hepatic enzyme monitored.
Adverse Reactions
Dyspepsia, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, pruritus, vomiting & constipation.
Drug Interactions
Warfarin, terfenadine, astemizole, quinidine, rifampicin, phenytoin, pimozide, indinavir, digoxin, cyclosporin, dihydropyridine Ca channel blocker, simvastatin, atorvastatin, tacrolimus.
