Moxifloxacin HCl
Indications/Uses
Conjunctivitis or keratitis (including corneal ulcer). Prevent infection before & after the ocular surgery. Bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of organisms.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Bacterial conjunctivitis Instill 1 drop into affected eye(s) tid for 4 days. Keratitis (including corneal ulcer) Instill 1 drop into affected eye(s) tid for 7-14 days, up to 8 times daily. Prevention from infection before & after the ocular surgery Instill 1 drop into affected eye(s) 5 times daily before the ocular surgery 2 days & tid on the surgery day until the 14th day after the surgery.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin HCl or quinolones antibiotics.
Special Precautions
May cause hepatotoxicity or renal toxicity. Prolonged use may cause overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms including fungi.
Adverse Reactions
Conjunctivitis, decrease visual acuity, ocular dryness, keratitis, ocular discomfort/pain/pruritus, ocular hyperemia, subconjunctival hemorrhage & tearing; fever, increased cough, infection, otitis media, pharyngitis, rash & rhinitis.
