Indications/Uses
Induction of general anesth, control of convulsions, supplementation of regional anesth.
Dosage/Direction for Use
2-3 mL of 2.5% soln.
Contraindications
Absence of suitable veins. Status asthmaticus, porphyria.
Special Precautions
Moderate HTN, excessive premed, hepatic dysfunction, increased blood urea, severe anemia & CV diseases, raised intracranial pressure, asthma, myasthenia gravis, severe uremia. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Coughing, sneezing, laryngeal spasm, skin rash, fever, arthralgia.
Drug Interactions
Additive effects with CNS depressants, alcohol. Diminishes effects of warfarin, anticonvulsants.

N01AF03 - thiopental ; Belongs to the class of barbiturates. Used as general anesthetics.
