Anagrelide HCl
Indications/Uses
Treatment of essential thrombocythaemia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially, 0.5 mg/day for 1 wk, increased wkly by 0.5 mg/day until the desired therapeutic effect is achieved. Normally, therapeutic response is seen w/in 2 wk in dose range of 1-3 mg/day. Total daily dose should be administered bid or tid. Max: 5 mg/day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
CV, severe renal or liver disease. Monitor hematological, renal & liver parameters.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, palpitations, diarrhea, weakness, edema, nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, pain, dyspnea, flatulence, vomiting, fever, rash, chest pain, anorexia, tachycardia, pharyngitis, malaise, cough, paresthesia, back pain, pruritus, dyspepsia. Heart failure, MI, cardiomyopathy, heart block, atrial fibrillation, cerebrovascular events, pericarditis, pulmonary infiltrates, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary HTN, pancreatitis, GI ulcers, seizures.
