Ergotamine tartrate 1 mg, caffeine 100 mg
Acute attacks of migraine & vascular headache.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥12 yr 1-2 tab at the 1st signs of a migraine attack. If necessary, 1 more tab may be taken after 30 min. This may be repeated at ½-hr intervals. Max: 6 tab/day or 10 tab/wk.
May be taken with or without food.
Impaired peripheral circulation, obliterative vascular disease, severe HTN, renal or hepatic insufficiency, sepsis. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Avoid frequent & prolonged use. Impaired peripheral circulation (discontinue). During prolonged & uninterrupted treatment, drug-induced headache & rare case of rectal or anal ulcer occurred.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, paresthesia, pain & weakness in the extremities, peripheral vasoconstriction (discontinue drug). Precordial pain, MI & infection. Prolonged use may cause pleural or retroperitoneal fibrosis or fibrotic changes in the cardiac valves.
Drug Interactions
Possible risk or peripheral ischemia w/ erythromycin, troleandomycin, josamycin. Enhanced risk or vasospastic reaction w/ propranolol. Vasoconstrictor agents.

N02CA52 - ergotamine, combinations excl. psycholeptics ; Belongs to the class of ergot alkaloids preparations. Used to relieve migraine.
