Sildenafil citrate
Indications/Uses
Erectile dysfunction.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Recommended dose: 100 mg approx 1 hr before sexual activity. Max: 100 mg once daily. Severe renal & hepatic impairment 25 mg. W/ ritonavir or CYP3A4 inhibitor Max single dose of 25 mg in a 48-hr period.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients on nitric oxide donors, organic nitrates/nitrites in any form regularly or intermittently. Women. Childn <18 yr.
Special Precautions
Transient decrease in BP; left ventricular outflow obstruction; rare syndrome of multiple system atrophy; anatomical deformation of penis eg, angulation, cavernosal fibrosis, Peyronie's disease; conditions which may predispose to priapism eg, sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, leukemia; bleeding disorders or active peptic ulceration; retinitis pigmentosa. Combination w/ other erectile dysfunction treatment.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, vasodilatation, dizziness, abnormal vision (blurred vision, increased sensitivity to light), chromatopsia, palpitation, rhinitis, dyspepsia.
Drug Interactions
Ketoconazole, erythromycin, cimetidine, itraconazole, nitric oxide donors, organic nitrites, doxazosin.
