Purified Vi capsular polysaccharide of Salmonella typhi
Indications/Uses
Protection of adult & childn >2 yr against typhoid fever.
Dosage/Direction for Use
0.5 mL as a single IM/SC inj. Revaccination: Every 3 yr if necessary.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Salmonella typhi polysaccharide vaccine or formaldehyde. Ill patients w/ high temp.
Special Precautions
Do not inj by IV. Not to be used against Salmonella paratyphi A or B or non-typhoidal salmonella. Patients w/ weak immune system due to concomitant use w/ corticosteroids, cytotoxic drugs, radiotherapy or other treatments that weaken immune system; HIV infection or other immunocompromising diseases. Patients w/ haemophilia or who are prone to bruising or bleeding. Fainting may occur. Pregnancy. Childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Inj site pain, induration & erythema. Fever.
