Triamcinolone acetonide
Inflammation of joints, bursae & tendon sheaths, keloids, lupus erythematosus.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Small joints 2.5-5 mg. Large joints 5-15 mg.
Systemic fungal infection, unstable or infected joints. Lactation.
Special Precautions
Intercurrent infection, defer immunization, hypothyroidism, cirrhosis (enhance effect), active or latent TB, ocular herpes simplex, GI disorders susceptible to hemorrhage, renal insufficiency, HTN, cardiac failure, diabetes, osteoporosis, thromboembolic disorders, glaucoma, myasthenia gravis. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Temporary local atrophy. IA: Post-inj flare, pigmentation changes, sterile abscess, Charcot-like arthropathy. Systematically: Na & fluid retention, peptic ulcer w/ possible perforation, decreased carbohydrate tolerance, impaired wound healing, thin fragile skin, purpura, striae, muscle weakness steroid myopathy, osteoporosis, aseptic necrosis, cataracts, increased intraocular or intracranial pressure, protein catabolism, Cushingoid state, growth retardation, aggravation of preexisting psychiatric conditions.
Drug Interactions
Efficacy may be reduced by phenytoin, phenobarb, rifampicin. Corticosteroids may reduce the effects of diuretics, hypoglycemics, anticholinesterases, salicylates.

H02AB08 - triamcinolone ; Belongs to the class of glucocorticoids. Used in systemic corticosteroid preparations.
