Hepatitis A vaccine, purified inactivated
Indications/Uses
Vaccination against infection caused by hepatitis A virus.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM Adult ≥18 yr Single 1-mL dose at elected date & booster dose of 1 mL 6-18 mth later. Childn/adolescent 2 mth through 17 yr Single 0.5-mL dose at elected date & booster dose of 0.5 mL 6-18 mth later.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Do not inj intravascularly or intradermally. Malignancies or concomitant immunosuppressive therapy or immunocompromised patients. Acute infections or febrile illness. May be administered SC when clinically appropriate (eg, people w/ bleeding disorders at risk of hemorrhage). Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <12 mth.
Adverse Reactions
Inj site reactions eg, tenderness, pain, warmth, swelling, erythema, ecchymosis, pain/soreness. Asthenia/fatigue, fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, myalgia, arm/back pain, stiffness, headache, pharyngitis, upper resp infection, nasal congestion, menstruation disorder. Childn: Vomiting, anorexia, cough, irritability, crying, rhinorrhea, resp congestion, laryngotracheobronchitis, rash, measles/rubella-like rash, viral exanthema, otitis media, otitis, conjunctivitis.
