Indications/Uses
Evohaler Reversible bronchospasm in bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, acute dyspnea. Nebules Acute severe asthma, chronic reversible bronchospasm. Resp soln Severe bronchospasm & status asthmaticus.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Evohaler 1-2 puff qid. Nebules Adult & childn Starting dose: 2.5 mg, may be increased to 5 mg qid. Adult max dose: 40 mg. Clinical efficacy in infants <18 mth is uncertain. Resp soln Adult 0.5-1 mL diluted to a vol of 2-2.5 mL or 2 mL to be used undiluted qid. Continuous administration: 50-100 mcg/mL administered at a rate of 1-2 mg/hr. Childn <12 yr 0.5 mL diluted to a vol of 2-2.5 mL. Max: 1 mL to be repeated qid.
Contraindications
Threatened abortion. Management of premature labor.
Special Precautions
Thyrotoxicosis. Pregnancy, lactation. Hypokalemia.
Adverse Reactions
Fine tremor of skeletal muscle, feelings of tension, peripheral vasodilation, increase in heart rate, headaches, muscle cramps, hypokalemia, hyperactivity in childn. Paradoxical bronchospasm (inhalers), cardiac arrhythmia.
Drug Interactions
Nonselective β-blockers. Hypokalemia potentiated by xanthine derivatives, steroids, diuretics & by hypoxia.

R03AC02 - salbutamol ; Belongs to the class of adrenergic inhalants, selective beta-2-adrenoreceptor agonists. Used in the treatment of obstructive airway diseases.
