Indications/Uses
Adjunct to diet & exercise to improve glycemic control in adults w/ type 2 DM.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole, do not break/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ severe renal impairment or end-stage renal failure on dialysis.
Special Precautions
Risk of hypoglycemia in concomitant use w/ sulfonylureas or insulin prep. Promptly discontinue use if pancreatitis is suspected. Moderate renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation (avoid if therapy is necessary). Ped patients. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Rash, pruritus; atrial fibrillation; increased ALT, AST & γ-GTP; increased lipase, amylase & CPK; positive urinary occult blood, nasopharyngitis.
