Zidovudine 300 mg, lamivudine 150 mg
Indications/Uses
HIV infection in combination w/ other antiretrovirals.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & adolescent >12 yr 1 tab bid.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Abnormally low neutrophil counts (<0.75 x 109/L) or abnormally low Hb levels (<7.5 g/dL or 4.65 mmol/L).
Special Precautions
Monitor haematological parameters. Discontinue in case of pancreatitis. Risk factors for liver disease & hepatic steatosis. Co-infection w/ hepatitis C. Hepatic impairment. Lipodystrophy. Risk of osteonecrosis. Childn <12 yr. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Anaemia, neutropenia, leucopenia, headache, dizziness, insomnia, cough, nasal symptoms, GI effects, increased liver enzymes & bilirubin levels, rash, alopecia, arthralgia, muscle disorders, myalgia, fatigue, malaise, fever, increased liver enzyme & bilirubin levels.
Drug Interactions
Co-trimoxazole, ganciclovir IV or foscarnet, zalcitabine, probenecid, phenytoin, acetylsalicylic acid, codeine, morphine, indomethacin, ketoprofen, naproxen, oxazepam, lorazepam, cimetidine, clofibrate, dapsone, isoprinosine, ribavirin, potentially nephrotoxic or myelosuppressive drugs.
