Pharmacology: Soy isoflavones contained in Estromineral are natural substances extracted from non genetically modified soy with estrogen-like effects. For this reason, these isoflavones are also named "phytoestrogens". They are particularly useful during the climacteric period and menopause for counteracting the hormonal deficiencies of this period of life. In fact, menopause is a physiologic condition which initiates approximately at the age of 50 and is due to important hormonal changes determined by the cessation of the ovarian function, particularly to the decreased secretion of estrogens.
This hormonal deficiency gives rise to symptoms of cardiovascular lability (hot flushes, perspiration, palpitation), nervousness, irritability, progressive atrophy of genital organs and skin aging. The natural phytoestrogens of Estromineral counterbalance menopausal hormonal deficiencies and, therefore, can reduce the discomforts associated to menopause. Also by respecting the delicate hormonal balance of women. Another effect of hormonal deficiency is mineral loss, mainly of calcium which in the most severe cases causes osteoporosis.
Lactobacillus sporogenes (Ls) is the probiotic in Estromineral. It is administered in spores, which are resistant to gastric and biliary secretions that generally destroy most of the normal lactic ferments. In the intestinal tract, the spores originate the germinative forms which colonize the intestinal walls, particularly the colon. At this level, Ls exerts its typical probiotic activity. It produces enzymes, group B vitamins and other beneficial substances for the intestinal process and for the whole organism (the term "probiotic" is therefore justified). Ls has a further important function, it splits the glycosidic bindings of soy phytoestrogens, releasing the active ingredients genistein and daidzein and increasing their absorption and efficacy.
Besides balancing the intestinal flora, Ls produces particular antibacterial substances ie, the bacteriocins, which are able to counteract the growth and intestinal colorization of pathogenic germs as Candida albicans, Salmonella, Escherichia, Staphylococci, Clostridia, etc; this avoids intestinal infections and the production of toxic substances. Ls, also stimulates the intestinal immune response, giving its contribution to defend organism from infections and toxic substances.
The equisetum vegetable extract gives organic silicon, which is important for the maintenance of the cartilage and connective tissue; therefore, for bone trophism. It has also a diuretic action for the correction of fluid retention, which often in menopause, as well as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity.
Calcium supplements the dietary calcium in order to compensate the increased requirements in menopause.
Vitamin D3, at recommended daily dose (RDA vitamin D3), is necessary for the intestinal absorption of calcium and bone formation.
