Differential Diagnosis
The following conditions should be ruled out in the diagnosis of bacterial gastroenteritis:
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Ischemic colitis
- Parasitic infection (eg cryptosporidiosis, giardiasis)
- Viral gastroenteritis (eg norovirus, rotavirus)
