Scleroderma Disease Summary

Last updated: 11 April 2022

Overview

Scleroderma is a rare, autoimmune, chronic, connective tissue disease with vascular damage, immune system activation and extensive fibrosis.
It has an idiopathic cause and not contagious.
No drug has been clearly proven that would stop or reverse the skin thickening and tightening manifestation of scleroderma. Pharmacotherapy is primarily for symptomatic treatment and prevention of complications of scleroderma.
