Sitagliptin phosphate
Indications/Uses
Monotherapy or in combination therapy as adjunct to diet & exercise to improve glycemic control in patients w/ type 2 DM.
Dosage/Direction for Use
100 mg once daily. Renal impairment w/ GFR ≥30 to <45 mL/min 50 mg once daily, GFR <30 mL/min or w/ end-stage renal disease (GFR >15 mL/min) requiring hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis 25 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Should not be used for treatment of type 1 DM or diabetic ketoacidosis. Reports of pancreatitis; hypoglycemia; bullous pemphigoid. Renal insufficiency. Discontinue if hypersensitivity reaction is suspected. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <18 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Hypoglycemia, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; headache, upper resp tract infection, cough, fungal skin infection, peripheral edema; dyspepsia, flatulence; flu; pancreatitis; worsening renal function, nasopharyngitis, constipation, arthralgia, myalgia, pain in extremity, back pain, pruritus.
Drug Interactions
Slightly increased AUC & Cmax of digoxin.
