Indications/Uses
Treatment of depression. Prevention of relapse & recurrence of depressive episodes.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 75 mg/day in 2-3 divided doses, may be increased in increments of up to 75 mg/day at 4-day intervals. Max: 375 mg/day. Moderate depression May be titrated up to 225 mg/day. Severe depression May be titrated up to 375 mg/day.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Patient w/ very high risk of serious cardiac ventricular arrhythmia or uncontrolled HTN. Childn <18 yr. Concomitant use w/ MAOIs.
Special Precautions
Monitor for suicidality or unusual behavioral changes. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, insomnia, dry mouth, somnolence, headache, HTN, dizziness, constipation, sweating, nervousness, vision disturbances, asthenia, sexual dysfunction.
Drug Interactions
MAOIs, serotonergics, haloperidol, clozapine, alcohol, potent CYP3A4/CYP2D6 inhibitors, cimetidine, warfarin.
