Solifenacin succinate
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of urge incontinence &/or increased urinary frequency & urgency as may occur in patients w/ overactive bladder syndrome.
Dosage/Direction for Use
5-10 mg once a day. Patient w/ severe kidney disease or moderate liver disease should not take >5 mg/day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole w/ liqd, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Patient undergoing kidney dialysis. Severe liver disease. Intolerance to some sugars. Patient suffering from urinary retention; severe stomach or bowel condition; myasthenia gravis; high pressure in eyes w/ gradual loss of eyesight (glaucoma).
Special Precautions
Patient suffering from blockage of bladder, digestive system obstruction; reflux disease (including heartburn) or hiatus hernia; autonomic neuropathy; angioedema; preexisting abnormal ECG; high potassium. Concomitant w/ aspirin, ibuprofen or other NSAIDs; biphosphonates; medicines that may decrease the removal of Vesicare from the body. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Dry mouth, constipation, nausea, indigestion, abdominal pain, blurred vision.
Drug Interactions
Other anticholinergic agents, cholinergic receptor agonists (eg, pilocarpine), metoclopramide.
