Human albumin
Restoration & maintenance of circulating blood vol in cases of demonstrated hypovolemia, when use of colloid is appropriate.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Special Precautions
Risk of hypersensitivity. Use w/ special care in patients w/ severe heart disease (eg, decompensated heart failure); HTN; oesophageal varices; breathing difficulties due to pulmonary oedema; severe bleeding (haemorrhagic syndromes); disease affecting RBC (eg, severe anaemia); anuria. Monitor hydration level & various blood components (eg, coagulation factors, electrolytes, platelets, RBC). Discontinue use in case of headache, breathing difficulties, increased jugular vein vol, increased arterial BP or of central venous pressure, or pulmonary oedema. May affect patients on strict low-salt diet. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Swelling of throat & face (Quincke's oedema), localised or generalised swelling; burning & tingling sensation at inj site; redness, itching (pruritus), skin rashes throughout entire body or localised areas (generalised urticaria, urticant reaction); arterial hypotension; tachycardia, chest tightness; nausea, vomiting; chills; drowsiness, extreme fatigue (asthenia); agitation; headaches (cephalgia); paraesthesia; wheezing.
