Per L Hydroxyethyl starch 60 g, NaCl 9 g
Hypovolaemia due to acute blood loss when crystalloids alone are not considered sufficient.
Dosage/Direction for Use
For continuous IV infusion. Individualised dosage. Initially 10-20 mL to be infused slowly. Max: 30 mL/kg/day.
Hypersensitivity. Sepsis; burns; renal impairment or renal replacement therapy; intracranial or cerebral haemorrhage; critically ill patients; hyperhydration; pulmonary oedema; dehydration; severe hypernatraemia or severe hyperchloraemia; severely impaired hepatic function; CHF; severe coagulopathy; organ transplant patients.
Special Precautions
Allergic reactions. Patients undergoing surgical procedures & in patients w/ trauma. Haemodynamic monitoring is required for vol & dose control. Avoid vol overload. Patients w/ pulmonary & cardiocirculatory problems; impaired hepatic function; blood coagulation disorders. Monitor serum electrolytes, fluid balance, renal function & blood coagulation parameters. Discontinue at the 1st sign of renal injury or coagulopathy. Patients undergoing open heart surgery in association w/ cardiopulmonary bypass. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Pruritus; increased serum amylase, dilution of blood components eg, coagulation factors & other plasma proteins, decrease of hematocrit.
