Ethambutol HCl 250 mg, INH 100 mg, vit B6 6 mg
Indications/Uses
Pulmonary TB.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initial treatment: 3 tab once daily. Re-treatment: 4 tab once daily. Thereafter 15 mg/kg/day.
Contraindications
Ethambutol: Optic neuritis. INH: Drug-induced liver disease.
Special Precautions
Ethambutol: Severe renal impairment, gout, reduced visual acuity. INH: Impaired liver or kidney function, patients taking other hepatotoxic agents; convulsive disorders, DM, chronic alcoholism. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Ethambutol: Retrobulbar neuritis w/ a reduction of visual acuity, central scotoma & red-green colour blindness. Increase of serum transaminase, SLE, GIT disturbance.
Drug Interactions
Ethambutol may reduce efficacy of uricosuric agents. INH enhances effects of phenytoin.
