Ranitidine HCl
Indications/Uses
Gastric & duodenal ulcer, reflux oesophagitis & pathological hypersecretion of gastric acid conditions eg, Zollinger-Ellison’s syndrome, systemic mastocytosis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Gastric, duonenal ulcer, reflux esophagitis 150 mg twice daily, in the morning & night, or 300 mg once daily before bedtime for 4-8 wk. Maintenance: 150 mg daily before bedtime. Prophylaxis of peptic ulcer 150 mg twice daily. Zollinger-Ellison’s syndrome Initially 150 mg 3 times daily. Childn 8-18 yr Doses up to 150 mg 1-2 times daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ acute porphyria. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Occasionally, headache, dizziness, malaise, myalgia, nausea, diarrhea, pruritus, constipation, abdominal pain. Confusion, gynecomastia, hyperprolactinemia, sexual dysfunction, bradycardia, hepatitis (rare).
Drug Interactions
Warfarin, diazepam, lignocaine, phenytoin, propanolol, theophylline.
