Human anti-D Ig
Prevention of Rh(D) immunisation in Rh(D) -ve women (antenatal & postnatal prophylaxis). Treatment of Rh(D) -ve person after incompatible transfusions of Rh(D) +ve blood or other products containing RBC eg, platelet concentrate.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Prevention of Rh (D) immunisation in Rh(D) -ve women Antenatal prophylaxis 50-330 mcg or 250-1,650 IU. Planned antenatal prophylaxis 250 mcg or 1,250 IU at 28-30 wk of gestation or 2 doses at 28 & 34 wk. Antenatal prophylaxis following complications of pregnancy Single dose 125 mcg or 625 IU before 12th wk of pregnancy w/in 72 hr, repeat at 6-12 wk intervals throughout pregnancy if necessary. After amniocentesis & chorionic biopsy, administer single dose 250 mcg or 1,250 IU. Postnatal prophylaxis 100-300 mcg or 500-1,500 IU. Standard dose: 1,250 IU (250 mcg). Large feto-maternal haemorrhage 10 mcg or 50 IU/0.5 mL fetal RBC. Incompatible transfusions of RBCs 20 mcg/2 mL of transfused Rh (D) +ve blood or per 1 mL of RBC concentrate. Max: 3,000 mcg (15,000 IU).
Hypersensitivity. IV inj (risk of shock). Not to be given to newborn infant.
Special Precautions
Observe patients for at least 20 min after administration & for at least 1 hr after an accidental IV inj. Patients who previously tolerated treatment w/ human Ig. Discontinue use if symptoms of allergic or anaphylactic type reactions occur; early signs of hypersensitivity reactions eg, hives, generalised urticaria, chest tightness, wheezing, hypotension & anaphylaxis. Risk of haemolytic reaction (large doses). Newborn infant.
Adverse Reactions
Local pain & tenderness at inj site. Occasionally fever, malaise, headache, cutaneous reactions & chills.
Drug Interactions
Live attenuated virus vaccine. Misleading +ve results in serological testing.
