Fexofenadine HCl
Indications/Uses
Relief of symptoms associated w/ allergic rhinitis & chronic idiopathic urticaria in adult & childn ≥12 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥12 yr 180 mg once daily.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take before meals. Do not take w/ fruit juice.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Concomitant use w/ macrolides (eg, erythromycin) or imidazole antifungals (eg, ketoconazole). Arrhythmia. Renal impairment. Avoid driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery. Pregnancy (do not use in 1st trimester) & lactation. Childn <6 mth.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, drowsiness, dizziness; nausea. Hypersensitivity reactions eg, angioedema, chest tightness, dyspnea, flushing & systemic anaphylaxis; insomnia, nervousness, sleep disorders or nightmare/excessive dreaming (paroniria); tachycardia, palpitations; diarrhea; rash, urticaria, pruritus.
Drug Interactions
Decreased AUC & Cmax w/ Al- & Mg-containing antacids. Increased plasma levels w/ erythromycin or ketoconazole.
