Lincomycin
Indications/Uses
Infections by susceptible strains of gm +ve pathogens. Infections of resp tract, skin & soft tissue, joint & bone, UTI, septicaemia, otitis media, meningitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 600 mg-2 g/day. Childn 10-20 mg/kg/day.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to clindamycin. Patients w/ diarrhea.
Special Precautions
Impaired hepatic or renal function.
Adverse Reactions
Severe GI disturbances; taste abnormality, pseudomembranous colitis, agranulocytosis, leucopenia. IV administration: Thrombophlebitis, hypotension & rarely, cardiac arrest.
Drug Interactions
Antagonizes action of neostigmine & pyridostigmine. Enhances neuromuscular-blocking effect of tubocurarine.
