Indications/Uses
Pulmonary TB.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initial treatment 15 mg/kg body wt. Re-treatment 25 mg/kg body wt.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Optic neuritis.
Special Precautions
Severe renal impairment; gout, reduced visual acuity. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Retrobulbar neuritis w/ reduced visual acuity, central scotoma, green-red colour blindness. Allergic rashes. GI disturbances. Rarely, jaundice & peripheral neuritis. CNS effects. Hyperuricemia.
Drug Interactions
May reduce efficacy of uricosurics especially in the presence of INH & pyridoxine. Al-containing antacids.
